A Magnificent And Extremely Rare French Baroque Lamb of God, Agnus Dei, 1700's

This is an absolutely magnificent and one of a kind French Baroque Lamb of God or Agnus Dei that dates from the early 18th century. This glorious and sacred treasure is entirely hand carved from wood and gilded. It consists of the stand, the lamb and a plaque with Christ's initials. This is an extremely rare carving whose beauty is enhanced today, in my opinion by its glorious patina created by the passage of time of 300 years or more. It is poignant - yet peaceful - in its unique presence and timeworn splendour. It measures about 28 x 37 x 24 cm or 11 x 14.5 x 9.4 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it.
