A Pair of Fantastic And Large Antique Italian Angel Wings, Carved Wood, 1700's

This is a pair of truly fantastic and large antique Italian angel wings that date from the mid 18th century. Once the wings belonged to an angel statue that is no longer in existence. The wings are hand carved from wood and were once gilded. Through the passage of time most of the gilding has flaked away revealing in the process a gorgeous timeworn patina that in my opinion only brings forth its true beauty and splendour today. Discovered recently in the northern part of Italy these highly decorative items are exceptional in their charming beauty and the meaning. They are exactly as I discovered them.
