An Exceptional And Extremely Rare German Baroque Carving Of God, 1700's

 
This exceptional and ancient treasure was discovered recently in the southern part of Germany. It is a fascinating sculptural work of art with extraordinary artistic quality. The statue is entirely hand carved from wood, painted and partially gilded with gold and silver leaf and it is a Baroque interpretation of God, depicting a wise bearded man on a cloud. Through its impressive age of 300 years [or older] a fascinating timeworn patina has been created that gives it a captivating appeal and extraordinary presence. The statue measures about 46 x 34.5 x 11.5 cm or approximately 18.1 x 13.5 x 4.5 inches and it is in lovely antique condition with signs of ageing that in my opinion only brings forward its true beauty and splendour today.
